  • Wordpress 2.5

That was amazingly painless.  I’m 99% sure I overwrote the configuration file when updateing, but somehow everything was fine…  I don’t mind.  Everything should be exactly the same as before so I’m sure no one ever cares about 2.5, but if something screws up, please let me know.

    Wordpress Update

It looks like WordPress 2.5 was finally released… After two different delays.  It was a little annoying having to wait, but all things considered, I can’t complain.  It’s not like I’ve got the talent to go and create a web application on this kind of scale so kudos to the WordPress Team, and thanks for continuing to support and update this wonderful program!

I’m about to upgrade, and I doubt everything’s going to go smoothly, so expect some downtime.  Not that anyone would really care too much.   But yeah, I hope to be back in a bit.

    What?

I guess Bionic Woman really sucked.

    Another Site Update

I added a little thingy on the sidebar that lets you see recently uploaded files and when they were uploaded. Cheers!

Also, thanks for all your prayers, people. Patrick Swayze’s prognosis is good.

    Update of Sorts

I haven’t written in this thing for a while. I guess it’s kinda like my diary. That literally anyone with a computer and an internet connection can read… That’s wrong on so many levels.

Anyway, two new albums came out recently that I’ve been listening to a lot.

On Sunday Trent Reznor released a new Nine Inch Nails album titled “Ghosts I-IV.” You can check it out at his website. The cool part is that he’s no longer under a label apparently, so he’s gone completely rouge indie. He’s selling the album through Amazon’s mp3 service, and his website. That’s it. You can pay $5 to Amazon for the mp3 version, or you can go to his website for a few other interesting options. There’s the $5 option again, but you can download a FLAC version of the album, which is pretty neato. Then there’s the $10 option that gives you a copy of the 2 CD album in April when it comes out on top of the download, or a $75 option that gives you the $10 option with loads of extras, or there’s the $300 option that gives you all of the above plus actual vinyls of the album, plus posters signed by Mr. Reznor himself. I believe the $300 option is sold out by now though.

I ordered the $10 version, but their site is basically a peice of crap. I haven’t been able to download the album, and their “support” has ignored me so far. Great. It’s working fine for other people though. I’m just lucky.

On to the second album! Today the people behind Stabilizer released a new album under the name of Echo Slightly. I’ve listened to it about 1 and a half times, and it’s pretty good stuff. I really enjoyed Stabilizer’s first album, and I think I rank this one just slightly under it. The cool part is that Echo Slightly, and Stabilizer’s first two albums are available for download for free in the link I posted above! So go download and listen, what have you got to lose?

Finally, I just found out about The Human Giant today. It’s a sketch comedy show and from what I’ve seen, it’s pretty funny. I will leave you with two videos I really enjoyed.

    Site Update

I cleaned up a lot of the site’s inner workings today, some of it is really noticable, some of it is not so noticable, and some of it is transparent.

The big fix was for Internet Explorer. Apparently I forgot to put the “/” in a </h2> causing IE to throw up all over itself. The problem was in the file list code and I fixed that along with making it display the padding on the left of the file list correctly. There were also a few bugs in the HTML for the header and the sidebar. Everything should be displaying fine now.

Another fix was changing the default 404 page. It should now send you to the index of my site instead of the usless 404 page I had before. I’m still trying to figure out how to have it send you to the index all the time, even if you’re in a directory you’re not supposed to be in. .htaccess and mod_rewrite is pretty much voodoo to me. That’s why I didn’t use a .htaccess for the fix! Now it’s fixed. I was going about it the wrong way.

Lastly, I got rid of all the configuration files and stuff from my old site since they’re not being used anymore. Should save a tiny bit of space.

    Scott Matthew

Scott Matthew recently came out with a new self titled album. To me, this would be great news. The only problem is that I can’t listen to it because it’s only out in Germany. I don’t understand why that would be, seeing how Scott was born in Australia, and lives in NYC.

I always thought that the majority of his fan base would have been in NYC. Interestingly enough he’s on tour in Europe right now, and is apparently signed under a German music label. I suppose that could explain things. I can only hope that the album will see some sort of release stateside… Sometime.

In the meantime, I’ll just have to listen to his stuff that he did with Elva Snow, Yoko Kanno, and to the Shortbus Soundtrack. I suggest you do too if you’re not familiar with him. You can also check out his myspace page if you’d like to hear a little bit of the Shortbus Soundtrack.

I think that I just might be able to survive the wait though. Just might.

    That wasn't hard…

The file list is up. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, but I won’t get into boring specifics unless anyone wants me to. I think it turned out pretty well though. Let me know if it displays any peculiar activitiy.

    It's Baaaack

I got really tired of my current web site, and decided to whip this up in less than a day. Hopefully I’ll update it more than my last one, blah blah blah. I still want to incorporate the file listing I’ve been using before, but that’s for tomorrow or something. What’s really cool about Word Press is that while it’s not hyper-intuitive, odds are you’re able to do whatever you want with it.

I can’t take credit for the layout, but I did plug it into Word Press. It took a little getting used to, but I think I’ve got the hang of it. For the millions of people checking this every day, please contact me if there’s some sort of issue with the layout or the blog itself. If you want to see where the layout came from check out this site, or follow the link at the bottom of the page.

That’s all I can think of for now. If I do come up with any more interesting stuff, I’ll be sure to let all zero of my fans know.
